2012 Allora Reserve Sussurro Late Harvest Port-style Wine
The first barrel of the 2012 Sussurro was bottled in 2014. This Reserve Sussurro has been barrel aged for the past 8 years, and it is incredibly smooth with a velvety texture. Sussurro was created in the style of the great Ports from Portugal. It has only a whisper of sweetness, thus the name Sussurro which means whisper in Italian. This special late harvest wine has only been produced in three different vintages. It can only be produced in years with an extra long growing season. The grapes are allowed to hang on the vine longer than normal which results in much more concentration and a higher sugar level. The wine is fortified with an Eau de Vie (brandy made from grape skins) which allows it to age wonderfully for decades to come. Sussurro pairs beautifully with dark chocolate or with a rich Stilton.
